12 of us on the bun run today and the weather is still holding up well, with slightly less wind than yesterday. Just the usual route today with coffee and cake at the cafe stop before the ride home. No extra mileage today and given the easier pace today it was a pleasant recovery ride for me, so 50 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 16 mph 👍

Ride 27/12/2025
24 on the bun run this morning and weather wise it’s been a very nice week. It’s been dry, light winds with a little sunshine here and there but best of all not baltic usually around the 4-5 degrees mark. This has meant that I’ve been able to use the summer bike for all the rides this week 🤘 I went with the first group this morning of which there were about 14 of us. This did mean a faster ride but I wasn’t too bothered about that, it would keep me warm. Usual roll and orange juice at the cafe stop before heading back home over Knockhill. I was a little short on mileage so I headed up to Kingseat and around to Hill of Beath before heading back to Crossgates, thus getting my 50 mile target at an avg speed of 17 mph 🙂
Ride 26/12/2025 Boxing day
Today was the clubs usual Boxing day ride, and like last years one it was around the Forth over the 2 bridges. I was quite surprised that 18 of us turned up, that’s not the norm, but given the fine weather we’ve had this week I could see why. Rather than splitting into 2 groups like we normally would, we went as one big group. The roads were very quite that early in the morning so we headed for Kincardine bridge and the Kelpies for our planned cafe stop. At the Kelpies I had coffee and cake and since we had ridden the northern side of the river first our journey back would take us through Grangemouth and Bo’ness, the south side of the river along to South Queensferry where we would cross over the Forth Road bridge and then split our separate ways to head home. Once over the bridge I headed for Dalgety bay and up and over mill farm road which would take me directly home. So 46 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 17 mph, given the short flat ride this speed was expected.
Ride 25/12/2025 Xmas ride
I decided to ride to Kilsyth today particularly to cycle over Tak Ma Doon road (read big hill here 😋), but in the reverse route that I would normally do which I haven’t done in quite some time. Given it’s Christmas day I knew it would be a quiet day and the weather was perfect for a longer ride, which was another reason to go to Kilsyth as I was looking to clock up a 100k today 😁 I headed back to the old stomping grounds of my former home, Falkirk, and then into Denny and along to Carron Valley where I joined the Tak Ma Doon road heading over the south side of the hill, which is a bit easier since it not as steep. This takes you down into Kilsyth were for me it was a straight shot back to Denny and Falkirk and then over Kincardine bridge and Dunfermline. I didn’t stop for obvious reasons (nothing is open 😁) and did the 70 miles in one non-stop ride. It’s mostly a flat route with the aforementioned hill in it so I did the ride fairly quickly at a time of 4 hours 15 mins, which isn’t very fast but still 16.5 mph avg and that was fine with me 😀
Ride 21/12/2025
4 of us on the bun run this morning and weather wise it’s similar to yesterday only minus the sun, with a little bit of head wind on the ride home. Usual route to the cafe stop for coffee and cake only this time Santa was there today which made the cafe quite busy this morning, but we did get some freebies 😀 The ride back home would be into a headwind, not a strong one, but noticeable enough to feel it in my legs. We took turns at the front for most of the way until we went our separate ways. So 50 miles clocked up today at an avg speed just under 17 mph.
Ride 20/12/2025
26 of us on the bun run today and weather wise, well it was dark to start with thus requiring lights but in the end it turned out to be a nice sunny day with little wind around 😀 I joined the second group of 6 riders for a more steady paced ride, I still had fatigue in the legs from yesterday’s threshold work so didn’t want to go too nuts today. Usual roll and orange juice at the cafe before we headed back. I took the normal route home over Knockhill with some efforts going up Knockhill to just kill my legs some more 😆 but overall I kept with the group before we all went our separate ways. So 47 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 17 mph 👍
Ride 07/12/2025
4 of us on the bun run this morning and weather wise it’s pretty much the same as yesterday, overcast, wet roads but no rain and very little wind. We decided to make a small change to the cafe stop, still following the normal route but stopping at Mona’s cafe in Pool of Muckhart rather than Stirling Mills in Tillicoultry. Coffee and cake were still had at the stop though 😁 before we headed back home via the normal route. I tagged on a small amount towards the end of the ride by going up to Kingseat before heading back down to Crossgates via Hill of Beath. So 52 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 15 mph.
Ride 06/12/2025
12 of us on the bun run this morning and weather wise it’s a bit wet, overcast but little to no wind and not freezing to boot 😁 We split into 2 groups and I went in the first group which was had 9 of us in it. Usual route to the cafes stop for my roll and orange juice before we head back home again. We decided to go over Knockhill and keep the route to the normal one rather than going elsewhere like Milnathort. So a quick ride today of 47 miles at an avg speed of 16 mph.
