Well today the fast group went psycho warp speed on me and went an avg 19 mph for the first 40 miles to the cafe stop! This absolutely destroyed me so I parted way after the cafe stop and went my own way home and at my speed. It was still a long ride for me clocking up 75 miles and I averaged 17 mph which I’m very happy with but I think this will be my last ride with the fast group as they are killing me every weekend and I’m not getting any faster myself. I’m riding at my limits all the time and I suspect this isn’t conducive to my health and it’s definitely not making for a fun ride. Starting next weekend I’ll be dropping to the slower group like I did yesterday and hopefully I can start to enjoy my rides again.

What a difference a ride makes, I decided to ride the 09:00 group rather than the 08:30 fast group as I’m riding with the fast group tomorrow doing the 100km ride. I know from experience that I can’t keep up with the fast group doing the 100km as I usually get dropped after the cafe stop. So my strategy this week is to do the slower ride today thus leaving me some energy for tomorrow and hopefully I won’t get dropped tomorrow, we shall see Suffice to say todays stats are a bit skewed as the garmin didn’t stop for the cafe stop so the avg speed should be around the 14-15 mph mark rather than 12 mph cos I sure as hell wasn’t riding that slow.

Thanks to the garmin web site having a meltdown I’m only able to upload this now some 7 hours after completing it Anyhow today was a tough ride as the guys when out hard and fast from the off set which meant i was only able to stay in the group up to the cafe stop. After coffee it was a struggle for me to keep up so I decided to go at my own pace, I had gone hard yesterday and hadn’t had enough time to recover. So the last 10-15 miles we me going very slow which is why the avg was only 16 mph.

Well it’s a damp wet start this morning but thankfully the rain stopped after a while as I wasn’t packing any wet gear. It was a fast ride today but I did manage to keep up with the group but got dropped a little up knockhill but I wasn’t the last over so thats a win in my mind

After skipping yesterdays ride due to the dangerous weather today’s ride was ok with me. The route would be to Stirling and back via Saline and since the weather was fine, little winds, I was able to keep up with the group all the way round. So today I did 58 miles at an avg speed of 17.5 mph and I’m happy with that

So yesterday’s weather was atrocious -5 with about an inch of snow, I opted not to ride and I think it was the wise choice given that only 4 people turned up yesterday. Today was a slightly better day, zero degrees and some of the snow had been wiped away by traffic. Only 5 of us turned up today and we decided to do a loop around the forth which was fine with me as I know the route well and I know I can do it fast. So todays ride was a good ride for me, I was able to stay with the group and lead it some of the way. The only downside was the freezing rain/sleet we had to put up with from Falkirk to Linlithgow, where we stopped for a cafe break. By the time we finished out coffee the rain had stopped so it was a cold but dry ride back home
