LEJOG Day 5

LEJOG Day 5

Well that’s day 5 down and we’re in Preston. Today was a good day with 87 miles and not many hills to climb. The start was wet and dull but it cleared up in the afternoon and we got a little sun. No pain today so no drugs required, but it’s all relative I suppose as my legs ache with a few sore tendons but I’ve faired better than most so far, touch wood. Tomorrow should be another good day taking us up to Carlisle, there’s only 1 big hill and it’s again mostly flat, and then we will be half way

LEJOG Day 4

LEJOG Day 4

Dear god today was a tough one, and the toughest I think. Had to start the ride by taking pain killers as my knee was giving me jip So we leave Wales and head Shrewsbury through some stunning country side on a not to bad weather day but we were fighting a head wind. And this wasn’t helped by the fact we would be cycling nearly 95 miles over 5500 feet of hills Anyway I made it through the day without having to take any more drugs and steak is on the menu tonight

LEJOG Day 3

LEJOG Day 3

Lejog Day 3

So day 3 is down and I’m starting to feel it in my muscles as they are getting a bit sore. Today was one of the lighter days for hills but still 90 miles long against a light headwind. We followed some of the more quieter roads and some cycle paths to get across the river seven. So now we are in Wales in a posh Marriott Hotel hoping to get a decent meal and a good night’s sleep and praying my knee will last the trip.

LEJOG Day 2

LEJOG Day 2

Well that was a very very tough day and I’m very tired now. Cycling over Dartmoor has got to be easier, somewhere? Lot of hills and then some more and just for kicks you get another and to top it all off on the last 15 miles on the flat was against a head wind But again a reasonable day for weather sunshine here and there with a few scattered showers. There were some good views on the top of Dartmoor but I didn’t hang around too long as I had a long day ahead with… oh yeah those damn hills Tomorrows a longer distance day of 90 miles but only had 3300 feet of climbing so maybe I’ll get a chance to recharge a bit.

LEJOG Day1

LEJOG Day 1

Well that’s day 1 over with and it was a tough one, clocking up over 5500 feet of climbing, so I’m tired now and tomorrows even higher at over 6500 feet On the bright side we had some good weather, no rain and tomorrows looking about the same, lets hope the weather keeps up.

Ride 08/08/2015 Falkirk to St Andrews

Ride 08/08/2015

So the weather forecast for Saturday isn’t too bad, sunny with cloud later on, warm and WINDY!!! now not really windy, about 12 mph but enough to make me a very sore man :-(. Anyhow I though I would ride to St Andrews today, haven’t done that in a year so it was about due up. It took me 2 hours 45 min to ride the 55 miles to St Andrews but over 4 fucking hours to ride the 60 miles back home. Head winds are just so evil they kill all my energy reserves and make the ride home a tough one, I even ran out of water 15 miles from home which I’ve never done before, anyway 113 miles clocked and now I’m shattered.

Ride 25/07/2015 Edinburgh & Stirling

Ride 25/07/2015

Well it was an eventful day, 5 miles out I sheared off my inner tube valve as I was trying to pump the tyre up. Noticed I was running on bold tyres, but decided to risk it as the bike is in for it’s service in 10 days time. 65 miles out I was riding in a monsoon my wet gear didn’t stand a chance but I was only 10 miles from home so just kept riding, I was a drount rat by the time I got home, where did the summer go???
