So today’s goal was to ride 4 hours indoors to get my Garmin Connect badge for this. I got to 4 hours and felt fine so I decided to extend this to 75 miles :-D. Not the fastest ride, I was taking it easy just to get to the time limit, but overall I’m happy with the result and that’s the greatest mileage I’ve done for a spinning session

On call this week so spinning it is.
Ride 18/04/2021
Bit of a dull day with a few spots of rain but light winds. 5 of us today doing the normal Sunday bun run with me having my gear issues going over Knockhill. For whatever reason my gear shifter stuck, none of us could figure out why and I was stuck in 11th gear. I though I would have to abandon the ride but loosening off the gear cable to get a smaller gear did the trick to free up the leaver and I was able to carry one. Still not sure what happened but something I might need to watch out for. 50 miles knocked out at the usual 15 mph which was fine for me after yesterdays 65 miler.
Ride 17/04/2021
Another sunny day but still pretty cold in the morning. 15 of us today so we split into 2 groups again to do the usual bun run route. I was looking to do 65 miles today so once we had got over Knockhill I headed for my loop around Loch Leven to make up the extra mileage. Did well today speed wise I kept a steady 16 mph up for the entire ride, last time I did 65 miles I think I was around the 14 mph mark

Another stupid cold day only this time it felt worse There were 6 of us today but we weren’t going particularly hard at lest not enough to warm me up. I started at the back until we hit Dollarbeg at which point I took lead to warm me up a bit. It’s a bright sunny day but we still had the little flurry of snow here and there but it was nice get get back home and have a hot shower! 50 miles clocked up but at a slower pace than yesterday.
Ride 10/04/2021
Sunny but bloody cold day, there were 13 of us today so we split into a group of 6 and 7 with a small 5 min gap between us. I was in the leading 6 group and we did the usual Sat bun run route with me splitting from the group after crossing knock hill so I could get my usual 50 miles ride. I did the little extra by going through Lochgelly and Auchtertool to get back home.
Ride 04/04/2021 Spinning
Due to the very high winds today I decided I would spin instead, no chance of me being blown off my bike that way. Went for the 50 miles today, was trying to get it under 3 hours but missed that target by 2 mins It’s hard work cycling in one place with a constant pace and power, at least when you’re on the road you get peaks and troughs in power which means you get to recover a bit but not cycling at a constant rate. Anyway maybe next time, for now 50 miles at 16 mph avg, really need to get that to 17 mph to get under 3 hours…
Ride 03/04/2021
With the easing of lockdown club rides are back on so today was my first ride back with the club and it was nice to be back in a group again. 8 of us today doing the usual Saturday Bun Run to Clackmannan and back home over Knockhill. I added a little 10 miles on the end just to make it to my usual 50 miles and due to shite weather tomorrow I won’t be cycling tomorrow.
Ride 27/03/2021
Sunny but very cold day not helped by the strong wind making it colder Did the normal bun run route today with a little extra tagged on the end to make it up to 50 miles. Strong headwind at the beginning of the ride slowed me down but once on the homeward leg it sped me up so it averaged out in the end with 15 mph avg speed.
Ride 21/03/2021
The plan today was to ride to Kilsyth and back there by clocking up 60 plus miles which was my target for today. Even though it was a better weather day it was still cold when I started riding this morning. Headed across the Kincardine bridge and through Falkirk and Bonnybridge on my way to Kilsyth. I decided to head back a slightly different way and headed up to Dullatur, I forgot how steep that climb was which was a real kick in the pants. It’s and 7% avg climb but some bits are over 12% which had me in first gear. Thankfully its a nice ride down hill to Castlecary and paralleling the canal back to Bonnybridge and Falkirk. Back home the same way I came down once I crossed Kincardine bridge. 65 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 15 mph
Ride 20/03/2021
It’s back on the road this week and a reasonable nice spring day, bar for the wind The usual anti clockwise loop meant I would be head wind for the first half of the ride. I was doing the Sunday bun run today as I will be doing a longer ride tomorrow, it’s a better weather day tomorrow and I want to increase my distance. For today I was looking to do 50 miles so I changed up the normal route a bit to bump up the mileage. I was also going a bit harder today to get my speed up a bit so my avg speed today was 16 mph which I’m happy with given the wind on the first half of the ride. I won’t be that fast tomorrow but I should still be around the 15 mph mark

Another day on the turbo, another 2 hours in the saddle and 35 miles clocked up. Back to normality next week
