So the actual map of this can be found at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/19001086

So this is the last little bit I had to ride from where my Garmin went flat to Aberdeen. Tallying all of this up I would have cycled 132 miles in around 9 hours at an average speed of about 15 mph. I got to Aberdeen railway station just after 17:00 so my total lapsed time including breaks was around 11 hours, I started cycling at 06:00 in the morning. This is my new distance record for a single days ride and anything longer than this will require some new bike equipment that can stand the test of time

Ride 09/06/2018 Falkirk to Aberdeen

So yesterday I decided to ride from Falkirk to Aberdeen, this being the last city I haven’t ridden too in Scotland and one I’ve been wanted to do for a while but hadn’t due to its distance The weather was dull all the way up to Stonehaven but once past this it got sunny by the time I got to Aberdeen. This would have been the longest bike ride I’ve ever done had it not been for my Garmin going flat which is very annoying. The Garmin got as far as 120 mile not long after I had left Stonehaven so I’ll have to work out the rest for the true distance a time, that will be in the next post.

Ride 26/05/2018 Falkirk to Dundee

Well another beautiful sunny day and for my sins I cycled to Dundee and back not realising the distance involved. I was expecting it to be about 100 miles but because I took a different route then the usual one it increased the distance to 114 miles. Last weeks Ochils loop was 84 miles so this was a big jump up in distance more than I would normally do. I would normally jump in 10 miles increments each weeks but this was 20, but I survived and not much worse for wear. Anyway the leg out to Dundee was against a headwind which was hard work but on the return journey I had a nice tail wind so it made the trip back easier and just as well as I was getting very tired. And thanks to that tail wind I got my 15 mph average speed which was good

Well it was a lovely day today so I decided to ride to Perth. Wasn’t in any particular rush so I took my time and enjoyed the day. Stopped at Perth for lunch and then headed back home. Stupid Garmin froze on me again but this time it didn’t loss all my data only a little bit so I probably clocked up a little over 75 miles today.

It’s a nice sunny day and not too much wind around so I decided to do a sprint around the Forth. A good speed a time set not my best, thats been 2:09:09 but I’m only 12 mins out so can’t complain. Next weeks weather is supposed to be good as well so hopefully I can get some more cycling done in preparation for this years charity ride in the Pyrenees.

Ride 06/05/2018 Glen Finglas

It’s probably been a good 3 years since I’ve been up here but it’s a nice day and since my road bike is in for repairs all I had left was the mountain bike. I’ve always done this going clockwise around the hill but this time I went anticlockwise, and it was nice to see its a bit easier this way. Going clockwise there are some very steep sections that I cannot cycle up and have to push my bike up. It was a bit windy at the summit so I only stopped to take some pictures and headed back down again. There was a small landside going back down so I’m glad I went anticlockwise as it get a little bit dangerous so I had to walk down this bit as the landslide had diverted the stream onto the track and made it muddy and wet, but once past it I was back on the bike, so all in all a good days ride.

Ride 21/04/2018

Well todays ride was supposed to be 70 miles but stupid me forgot to take his water bottles so I had to ride back home to pick them up, thankfully I noticed fairly quickly so only an extra 5 miles was accumulated. It was a nice day with a bit of wind about so I decided to do a loop around Balerno. Unfortunately once I hit Belerno it was all headwind uphill for a little over 15 miles which took its toll on me but once I was heading North again I had an easier time. A little over 76 miles knocked out on what would be a nice ride to do without the head wind.
