BHF’s Windsor to Bath off road

On Saturday 15th September I did the BHF’s Windsor to Bath off road bike ride, which is a 105 mile off road ride along the Ridgeway and canal to Bath. Tough ride but a good one to do.

Unfortunately my garmin went flat before I completed the ride so I lost all my ride data and since I was riding against the clock I didn’t stop very often to take pictures, other than when I was eating.

Although the garmin went flat I do still have the route mapped out for the garmin saved as a course. I’ve attached it along with the photos below.

Ride 19/08/2012 up Glen Finglas

Ride 19/08/2012 up Glen Finglas by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

So here we are again having a go up Glen Finglas, the last time I did this was on the Evans Cycles Calendar Ride It event back in March. It was such a brutal ride it killed me twice over, thankfully this time I wouldn’t be doing 40 miles off road on top. I drove to the start of the path leading up the hill and rode the 15 miles up and down the hill without too much incidence. It’s still a brutal ride especially the last 100m up the path to the summit, still had to push the bike up that bit, but this time at least I was able to ride up 90% of the hill to the top A much better ride and experience this time round. Thats twice I’ve done the clockwise route, I’ll need to do the anti-clockwise route one day.

Doing some mountain biking around the side of the Ochils just so I can mark some of the routes up there. Hopefully I can build up decent set of routes to tackle the hills with.

Ride 04/08/2012 Ochils reverse loop

Ride 04/08/2012 Ochils reverse loop by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

So did the same Ochils loop as 2 weeks ago but this time a little more successfully. Weather forecast was for a cloudy possible wet day, it actually turned out to be a very nice sunny day.

Ride 21/07/2012 loop around the Ochils

Ride 21/07/2012 by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

Tried to ride around the Ochil Hills instead of over them. A little more difficult than I though especially when you ride down roads with dead ends. A small detour later and I was back on track but I still have to ride over the last corner of the Ochils through sheriffmuir as my only alternative was to ride the A9 which I’ll do over my dead body. That road should be a motorway and not an A road its far to busy to ride along without someone killing me.

Ride 24/06/2012 Falkirk to Dundee

Ride 24/06/2012 Falkirk to Dundee by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

So when I planned this ride the garmin said Falkirk to Dundee was 53 miles, so I thought 106, that’s possible. 4.5 hours and 60 miles! later I get to Dundee, 53 miles my backside >:-(. There was no way I would be able to get back to Falkirk, riding against the wind without killing myself. So I caught a train to Kirkcaldy and rode from there. 103 miles racked up, the furthest I’ve ever ridden my bike
