Ride 06/07/2013

Ride 06/07/2013 by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

Although it’s a nice sunny day it’s just as windy as last week. After last weeks near disaster of nearly not making it home I decided I would keep the mileage low, around 40 miles. I could get a good ride at speed without having to worry about getting back home again. Decided to visit Arria (angel of the nauld) which is a sculpture by Andy Scott sitting next to the M80 motorway. He is also the guy doing the Kelpies sculpture in the Helix complex next to me which sits next to the M9 motorway, he obviously has a thing for sticking sculptures next to motorways…

Ride 29/06/2013

Ride 29/06/2013 by Paul Lund at Garmin Connect – Details.

K-N-A-C-K-E-R-E-D! The first 40 miles was with a 12 mph head behind me but of course the second i turned around to head back home I was screwed. 40 miles with a 12 mph in my face. Bad idea to ride in that, I was forced to use my emergency energy rations which I have never had to do in the 2 and a half years that I’ve been riding just to get me home and I nearly didn’t make it. I’m going to pay a hefty price for this one

Ride 22/06/2013

Ride 22/06/2013 by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

Stupid weather day! it didn’t know whether to piss all over me or cook me. 53 miles clocked up in 4 hours but i got hit with a 2.5 hour penalty on top of that just cos the weather was a moron. On with the wet gear off with the wet gear, on with the wet gear off with the wet gear FFS! That and the 13 mph head wind pounding the rain into my face like some suicidal sand blaster and they call this fucking summer! [Rant over] Would have ridden further but got sick of the weather, roll on next week as the forecast is a bit better.

Ride 16/06/2013 Sight Seeing

Ride 16/06/2013 Sight Seeing by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

Did a short sight seeing ride around some of the nearby sights. So started at the new Helix site (still under construction) next to the Canal where The Kelpies sculpture will sit once it’s complete, go to www.thehelix.co.uk for more info on that. Then onto Blackness Castle and over to Hopetoun House and whilst riding back home I stopped at the House of the Binns and Linlithgow Palace whilst riding through Linlithgow. It was a nice sunny day so didn’t ride far or fast

Ride 08/06/2013 Falkirk to St Andrews

Ride 08/06/2013 Falkirk to St Andrews by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

Excellent day for cycling, bright, sunny and hot, well at least until about 19:00 when it went all dark and started to rain a bit Anyhow 3.5 litres of water used and 108 miles clocked up by cycling from Falkirk to St Andrews and returning via Largo, Kirkcaldy and Dumfermline, all in all a good days cycling and I managed to do it without killing myself  although I am tried now

Ride 01/06/2013 Falkirk to Kinross and Knockhill

Ride 01/06/2013 Falkirk to Kinross and Knockhill by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

Decided to ride to Kinross and Loch Leven, since I have never been there and was curious to see the place. I also wanted to ride up to Knockhill Racing Curcuit, as although I have raced there I’ve never actually ridden there. So I basically did a double loop, first to Kinross and second to Knockhill. Knocked up 92 miles but riding against the bloody prevailing easterly wind is just real pain in the arse, or in this case pain in the legs, very tired know.

Ride 04/05/2013 Fintry Loop

Ride 04/05/2013 by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

So today’s ride was my Fintry loop, which is Falkirk to Stirling, Stirling to the Trossachs and Loch Lomond, although not actually getting to Loch Lomond. At about 4 miles from Loch Lomond I swing South towards Strathblane then East towards Kilysth and back to Falkirk. Unfortunately today there was a prevailing Easterly wind of 18 mph blowing at me for 35 miles going to Loch Lomond. I hate head winds, they sap your energy and are soul destroying and I still had to climb up the hills at Drymen, thank god once I was past the hills I had the wind behind me, but the damage had been done. My legs hurt, my neck hurts, everything hurts, am absolutely knackered. I did 69 miles but I feel like I’ve done 169 miles, I need to live in a country with less wind!

Ride 20/04/2013 Hill Climbing

Ride 20/04/2013 Hill Climbing by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

Over 6000 feet climbed today managed to beat my personal best of 5300 feet climbed, by going up Dumyat twice, which was scary windy at the top. Some women had dragged her crying daughter up there who was scared by the wind, don’t blame the kid, I didn’t see too many people up there. Then on to Sheriffmuir and finally finishing at Wallace Monument.

Ride 13/04/2013 Falkirk to Dunning

Ride 13/04/2013 Falkirk to Dunning by PaulLund at Garmin Connect – Details.

60 miles and 3500 feet of cycling and a pranged neck for my efforts, still can’t put my head back without a load of pain My brain must be getting so big its stressing out my neck. I’ve ridden far further than this without neck issues, well… bar the usual nipping but that doesn’t stop me moving my neck. Roll on next Saturday…
