After yesterdays discussion on doing 100 km ride today, we decided to do the Packers Lane route which would clock up the 100 km we were looking for. So 8 of us turned up this morning and we headed out towards Kincardine Bride and onto Bannockburn and Stirling. Weather wise it is similar to yesterday, light winds and overcast but s little bit colder that yesterday but not freezing yet We would be stopping at Coffee Bothy for our cafe stop but that would mean we’d ridden 45 miles or so before stopping to eat. By the time we got their I was quite hungry so I had Coke, soup of the day and banoffee pie which went down well. After the cafe stop we headed along the Hill Foots to Dollar before heading up to Saline hill. At this point we split up with some people looking to do the quickest way home but I went all the way to the top of the hill and onto Redgraigs, I needed the miles, by the time I got to Redgraigs I was just over 60 miles, probably just at the 100 km mark. I was feeling good still so I decided I would do some extra mileage and parted from the last of the group to head out on my own, I decided I would go over Knockhill and Cleish to get some elevation and some extra miles. I then headed for Kelty, Cowdenbeath and home, thus clocking up 83 miles and just shy of 16 mph, all in all a good days ride and the weather even held out and didn’t rain

15 of us on the bun run today with a mixed bag of weather. It’s been raining silly style for the last few days so the road are wet and flooded in places, but it wasn’t raining whilst riding, at least not until the last 5 miles of my ride anyway. So we split into 2 groups and headed for the usual cafe stop. After the usual scrambled egg roll and orange juice we headed home in some sunshine, kinda of unexpected but nice to have this time of year, and the wind was calm for the ride which was a bonus too. I followed Ken down to Dalgety Bay but wanted to do 65 miles today so once back up to Crossgates I headed for Fife cycle park as I new this would give me the mileage I was after. It was on the way back home from here that it started to rain a bit, not hard, but consistent and not enough to worry me since I was wearing my wet gear for the entire ride, I didn’t trust the weather enough to take it off So 65 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 15 mph which will do me fine as we are doing a 100 Km ride tomorrow as well.
Ride 13/11/2022
Another good day to be cycling, sunny, cool, and little wind, and as such this created the biggest Sunday group I’ve seen in quite a while, around 12 of us. So the usual route to the cafe stop for coffee and cake but given the good weather I was looking to do a little extra. I followed Ken down to Dalgety Bay but carried on until I hit Kirkcaldy, I then swung around and headed back home. So today I clocked up just over 70 miles at 16 mph avg speed, which given the time of year was a good distance and speed

It’s a surprisingly warm day for November which obviously affected the numbers that turned up today. There were 18 of us split across 2 groups and it wasn’t even windy which was good given the gale force winds we’ve had over the last 3 days. We did the usual route to the cafe stop today but decided to change the return route to head down to Dollar and up to Yetts o’Muckhart before heading down to Powmill and up the full accent of Knockhill. I followed Ken down to Dagety Bay and then headed up to Crossgates which bumped my total mileage for today up to 55 miles at an avg speed of 16 mph.

So when I started riding this morning it was raining, and as such it was back on with the wet gear. Given the weather conditions there were only 5 of us today but ti would actually turn out to be an ok day. The rain stopped not long after leaving Dunfermline and we had fairly light winds so getting to the cafe stop wasn’t a big issue today. Coffee and cake for my regular Sunday stop and by the time we left the sun was starting to come out. It wasn’t even a particularly cold day so it turned out to be a pleasant ride. Ken was along today so I followed him down to Dalgety Bay and back up to Crossgates to clock up 55 miles at just under 16 mph avg speed, all in all a good days ride given the season.

Well it’s a wet, wet day, but surprisingly 10 people turned up for the ride, usually when it’s this wet I don’t see a lot of people doing the bun run. Anyhow we headed through the rain to the cafe stop for scrambled egg rolls, but of course this made getting back out into the rain to cycle home again that much harder Thankfully in full wet gear I didn’t get drenched just mildly wet. No Ken today so I went home the normal route rather than through Dalgety Bay, but this left me a bit short on the 50 miles I wanted so I did a little loop around Cowdenbeath to bump up tot he 50 miles, thus clocking it up at 16 mph which is fine given the weather conditions.

So Marcus and the kids left just after 09:00 which meant I had time to do the Sunday bun run There were 8 of us on the run today and it’s quite a mild day for Autumn. We had a little bit of rain and sunshine and not too windy either. THe usual coffee and cake for me today at the cafe stop, and then I followed Ken down to Dalgety Bay before heading back up to Crossgates knocking up 55 miles and just under 17 mph avg speed, not too shabby for having a couple of days off cycling
Ride 23/10/2022
5 of us on the bun run today, the weather is a little bit better than yesterday, little wind and no rain for the entire ride. It was the usual cafe stop for coffee and cake and then I followed Ken down to Rosyth on the way home. The annoying thing today was I got another puncture not my luck as I got punctured yesterday, I’m getting a small collection of holed inner tubes which I’ll need to repair as I now have no new ones left at the moment. Anyway 55 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 16 mph.
Ride 22/10/2022
Back on the bike again after yesterdays ride this time with the club. There were about 14 of us today split over 2 groups, weather wise it was a bit misty, light winds and not too cold. I rode 75 miles yesterday since I had the day off so I wasn’t going to go long and hard today so I stuck to the normal bun run route. After the cafe stop it start to rain a little bit but not enough to worry me as I was close to home. So only 45 miles clocked up today at an avg speed of 15 mph.

So today was the last of this years Randonee’s, with the ride heading over to Falkirk and Beegraigs park. It started as dull, wet and windy days but would eventually turn into a nice sunny day albeit still windy. There were 16 of use today split into 2 groups. We would have a headwind all the way to Falkirk before turning south towards Beegraigs country park for our cafe stop. It’s a bit of a lumpy ride once into Falkirk, which was fine with me, I’ve ridden these road loads of time before when I lived in Falkirk. At Beegraigs it was time for some coffee, soup and cake to fill up the fuel tank And after the cafe stop it was pretty much tailwind downhill all the way to Kirkliston. I was looking to make the 100k mark so I split from the rest of the group at this point to do some extra by heading into Rosyth, once across the bridge, and along to Cairneyhill, back into the headwind and then the usual route home going via Dunfermline. So 65 miles clocked up at 15 mph with a good amount of climbing
Ride 15/10/2022
It was a dark, dull, wet and windy start to today’s ride, so it’s back onto the winter bike in full wet gear and given the weather I was expecting to be riding this on my own. I was pleasantly surprised to see 3 other people turn up for this ride when I got to the start. We had a head wind as per usual to the cafe stop but given we were going kinda slow it wasn’t a big deal to sit all the way at the front. I decided to, given the weather, to have coffee and scrambled egg roll rather than the usual orange juice and scrambled egg roll, I was still a bit cold by the time we got to the cafe stop. After the cafe stop the weather started to clear up a bit and we still had some showers on the way home, but it was starting to get brighter and sunny by the time I got home. No extra miles today given the weather, so 45 miles clocked up at a steady pace of 14 mph.
Ride 09/10/2022
When I looked at the weather forecast for today it was supposed to be pissing it down from the get go, but much to my surprise it stayed dry for the entire ride. So today there were 6 of us on the bun run doing the usual route to the cafe stop for cake and coffee. I wasn’t going to be doing any extra just because I didn’t trust the weather and also just because it was raining it was still a lot windier than yesterday and as such I was leading most of the time with a head wind all the way to the cafe stop. Even as we left the cafe it was still windy, even though we had some tail wind, it was like the wind was determined to make life difficult no matter what direction I was going Anyway whatever the weather I still clocked up 50 miles at an avg speed of 16 mph and stayed dry to boot.
