Ride 07/06/2015 Crieff Loop pt1

Ride 07/06/2015

I have no idea WTF my Garmin was doing here but it went into melt down and ruined the ride data. I had to reset it to get it back up and running again in Crieff but I did get most of the the data. >:-( Anyway I did my Crieff loop which is quite hilly, over the Ochils twice, and on a windy day like today made all the harder. So the totals should have been distance 75 miles, time 5:19:55, avg 14.05 mph, just shows how windy it was my averages went to pot and elevation gain 4603 feet. The ride had to be split into 2 activities thanks to the Garmin screw up but you get the idea.

Ride 30/05/2015 Erskine Bridge

Ride 30/05/2015

Another not too bad weekend, some sunshine, cloud and 12-15 mph wind. Decided to go a route that would take me over the Erskine bridge, hadn’t been on this bridge and I was curious. It’s a long ride and I would be riding against the wind for the most of it until I swung round and hit Paisley then the wind would be behind me I’m not a fan of riding in big cities but Paisley was quite nice until I hit Glasgow and the traffic Anyway 95 miles knocked out and I’m not too tired.

Ride 23/05/2015 Ochils Full Loop

Ride 23/05/2015

Well it’s a nice sunny day so I decided to to my Ochils Full Loop which normally is around 82 miles but I wanted to ride 100 miles today so I continued on until I hit may mark. Not too windy but because I’m doing a loop I would hit one direction and have it behind me another and then hit it again to bump up my mileage. All in all a good days ride and even after a 100 miles i’m tired but not FUBAR which can happen on some of my long distance riding

Ride 04/05/2015

Well it’s another not a bad bank holiday weather wise, still a little windy but the sun is out so did a quick Fintry loop. Given the wind speed that’s actually a good average speed, fighting the head wind all up the hills, and then had it behind me on the flat into Stirling, happy with that

Ride 02/05/2015

Ride 02/05/2015

Well first long distance ride of the year and I have sore legs :-(. Riding against a 16 mph headwind just hurts, thank god it was behind me for the way home otherwise I would have caught the train home. Note to self riding on the A92 probably not a good idea people treat it like a motorway, scary just like the A9 which I avoid at all costs!

Ride 26/04/2015

Ride 26/04/2015

Well it was a nice sunny morning so I though I would a morning ride around the Forth. All was well until I was about 3 miles from home and I hit a hale storm, not good when you are riding without mud guards in your cycling shorts a top, but I didn’t want to stop since I was so close to home. Well my legs and arms got a pelting and my bum was wet but I made it home, a little bedraggled and very red legs, and the irony is my legs are red because I got sun burnt bloody weather…

Ride 25/04/2015

Ride 25/04/2015.

Well after picking my bike up from it’s service this morning I thought I would go for a quick ride this afternoon. Didn’t have anywhere particular in mind so headed towards Stirling and see where I end up. You can tell by my route I was all over the place not knowing where I was going anyway I went a little up to Sheriffmuir then back down to Bridge of Allan, past the Wallace Monument and basically headed along the A91 until I hit Dollar. Had a little stop there for food and it was back to Kincardine and home. Weather wasn’t too bad sunny with some blustery wind, I was expecting rain but I managed to miss that.

Ride It Callander Extra Long Route

Ride It Callander Extra Long Route.

Right after last weeks shitey weather I wanted to take another shot at doing the ride I wanted to do last week but couldn’t because of the weather. Up this time is the Callander extra long router of 42 miles and 5500 feet of hill climbing. Last time I got a chance to do this was in 2012 when the weather was like today, sunny I also made a slight change to the route to avoid the Rob Roy Way route which I just hate as I have to walk it as it’s far too technical for me. The new route had me riding on the fire roads pretty much all the way round with a small stint on the A81 a far easier route for me It was then up to Brig o’Turk and up Glen Finglas Hill which is a bitch of a hill to have towards the end of your ride, a few feet shy of 2000 feet high. All in all a good days riding and now I’m tired.
